Easy Tips To Stop Food Cravings

Are you struggling with food cravings? Sometimes it is tough to go on a diet. After many years of being on and off diets I come to hate this word. Starting a diet on Monday is just an excuse, a way to postpone a weight loss journey that never starts. Why wait till Monday, when you can start right now. It is so common to set yourself up for failure by starting a diet without the right mindset and tools.

Without a method, you can end up ruining your diet late in the day when the cravings for sugar or unhealthy snacks become unbearable. Ending up stuffing your face and feeling totally miserable but satisfied, only for a moment. I’ve been there, I’ve done that.

Going from one day from being a food junkie to being able to control what you eat isn’t unrealistic, there are simple yet effective ways to battle this urge for unhealthy foods.

  • Empty your kitchen

It is simple but totally crucial. Just throw away everything that isn’t healthy, and when I say everything, I mean everything. Those potato chips, chocolate bars, candies, desserts and replace them with healthy but tasty foods.

Throwing away all those precious snacks is a necessary step. Having a clean space and keeping all these snacks out of reach make it easier to control those cravings.  It is crucial to do this after a meal. Feeling hungry will make this process harder. Be brave and take the trash out.

  • Drink water

Did you know that sugar cravings are a symptom of dehydration? Yes, it sounds crazy, but it’s true.  Drink water all throughout the day, not in one sitting. Water will help you get rid of toxins and accelerate weight loss. If water seems boring then add a slice of lemon, infuse it with herbs or fruits, make your own recipe.

  • Relax

Take time to slow down, even if that is for ten minutes. Find ways to ground yourself, take a bath, have a face mask, listen to your favorite music, read a book, meditate, watch a movie, go out with a friend.

Take your mind off all the things that stress you. At the end of the day you are tired, thinking about all your problems won’t help you solve them. Clearing your mind will make it easier to control your cravings because stress just triggers them.

  • Exercise

Working out will make you feel better, it will boost your energy and relax your mind. Food cravings are often a solution to a problem or a stressful situation. The feeling of numbness after binge eating is only short-termed. Nothing gets fixed this way, the pounds just keep adding up, and that will get you nowhere.

You don’t have to go to the gym if you don’t feel like it, just go for a walk, watch a workout video on YouTube.  Start slow and work your way up.

  • Sleep

Anyone who stayed up all night knows what follows the next day. A fest of binge eating every single thing that is tasty and unhealthy. Sleep deprivation can mess up your weight loss journey. It is essential to create a routine when it comes to sleep and set a schedule, the benefits are high energy levels, mental clarity, and overall health.

Final thoughts

Emotional eating is a hamster wheel from which you should get off. It takes determination and strategy to turn things around. We have to remind ourselves that we are worthy of being happy and we deserve more things in life.

The power is in our hands to make a change. Just think about the energy, the feeling of accomplishment, and the joy that comes along when you succeed in losing weight.

You’ll feel healthier, the clothes that you dreamt about will actually fit you, and you’ll feel more attractive. It is a gift that only you can give to yourself. Don’t waste another day. You can do this.
